Meet Our Herd: The Foundation of Our Ranch
Since November 2020, our foundational herd has grown to include over 30 exceptional breeding cows and 10 premier herd bulls. While the heart of our program is rooted in purebred Scottish Highlands, we have also carefully selected top-tier Highland crosses and Shorthorns to enhance the diversity and strength of our genetics.
Selectively Bred for Soundness & Type
At Mini Highland Cow Ranch, we prioritize structure, health, and classic breed characteristics:
- Our Females: Our breeding cows are small-framed, structurally sound, and chondro-negative. They provide the ideal maternal foundation for producing healthy, well-proportioned calves.
- Our Bulls: Our impressive herd bulls are chondro-positive Scottish Highlands. To achieve their beautifully compact, micro-miniature size, their lineage includes a tiny, carefully selected percentage of Dexter (the natural source of the dwarfism/chondro gene in miniature cattle).
By pairing our excellent chondro-negative cows with our compact, chondro-positive bulls, we are able to responsibly produce highly sought-after micro-miniature and mini calves without compromising on health or conformation.
